Description
WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE
Name From a gold ring owned by Odin (the mythologic Viking God) which "dripped" 7 new rings, of the same weight as the original, every 9th day. The name is considered particularly appropriate in view of the Draupne Formation's role as a prolific hydrocarbon source in the Northern North Sea. It replaces the name "Kimmeridge Clay Formation" as used by Deegan and Scull (1977) in the Northern North Sea (see remarks).

About this data
Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Tops and cored lengths are the Directorate's, per wellbore and unit; the percentiles are computed from those tops and are depths along the wellbore, not true vertical depth.
