Description

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

Name From the Norwegian name for the Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus).

Definition The type section is defined as the interval from 1834.7 m to 1745.4 m in well 7128/6-1 on the Finnmark Platform (Fig 9.48), apparently concurring with informal unit L-8 of Ehrenberg et al. (1998a). Cores cover the entire section (Fig 9.49). In this well the base of the formation is marked by a decrease in gamma ray response, reflecting the transition from silty warm water carbonates to clean cool-water carbonates.

Reference sections A reference section is defined as the intervals from 3700 m to 3625 m and 3586 m to 3502 m in well 7121/1-1 R on the Loppa High, these intervals interfingering with <a href="javascript:void(window.open('https://factpages.sodir.no/factpages/Default.aspx?nav1=strat&nav2=PageView|Litho|Formations&nav3=181&menu=No','popup','width=700,height=800,r

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Tops and cored lengths are the Directorate's, per wellbore and unit; the percentiles are computed from those tops and are depths along the wellbore, not true vertical depth.
