Well history

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

General

Well 6608/11-7 S was drilled on the Phoenix prospect close to the Linerle Discovery on the Rødøy High in the Norwegian Sea. The primary target for the well was to prove petroleum in Early Jurassic to Late Triassic Åre formation. The secondary target was to prove petroleum in the Late Triassic Grey Beds and Red Beds.

Operations and results

Well 6608/11-7 S was spudded with the semi-submersible installation Borgland Dolphin on 7 September 2011 and drilled to TD at 2435 m in the Triassic Red Beds 75 m below top Carnian. Drilling the hole went quick and efficient, without significant problems. Due to hole-problems the wire line program was less than planned. Stuck logging tool and fishing caused 102.5 hrs down time. Further problems with setting open hole P&A plug and WOW caused delay of 233.5 hrs before the well could be abandoned. The well was drilled with sea water and bentonite hi-vis sweeps down to 959 m and with Aquadril glycol mud from 959 m to TD.

The primary objective Åre Formation was entered at 1657 and had reservoir properties of lower quality than expected. The secondary objective showed better reservoir properties than expected, but was dry. There were traces of fluorescence in the top of the Åre Formation. Post-well geochemical analyses did not confirm these to be migrated hydrocarbons. Otherwise there were no indications of hydrocarbons in the well.

No cores were cut and no wire line fluid sa

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
