Well history

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

General

Well 25/4-13 S is the replacement well for 25/4-12 S, which was junked. The well was drilled to appraise the 25/4-3 Gekko discovery in the Vana Sub-basin in the North Sea. The primary objective was to confirm continuation of reservoir and hydrocarbons in the southern part of the Gekko structure. A geological side-track 25/4-12 A was planned after 25/4-12 S to test the northern part of the structure.

Operations and results

Appraisal well 25/4-13 S was spudded 25 m east of 25/4-12 S location with the semi-submersible installation Deepsea Bergen on 6 June 2018. After completing the top hole operations down to cementing the 20" x 13 3/8" surface casing in place, the well was temporary abandoned for the rig to move to Kameleon Infill South well 26/4-B-6 H. Deepsea Stavanger returned to location on 15 September 2018 and operations on 25/4-13 S were resumed. The well was drilled

to TD at 2653 m (2183 m TVD) in the Paleocene Heimdal Formation. Operations proceeded without significant problems. The well was drilled with seawater and hi-vis pills down to 212 m, with water-based mud from 212 m to 1034 m and with Innovert oil-based mud from 1034 m to TD.

Top of the target Heimdal Formation was penetrated at 2549 m (2093 m TVD). The Heimdal sandstone had excellent reservoir properties and contained gas and oil. The gas-oil contact was found at 2591.3 m (2130 m TVD) and the oil-water contact at 2598.9 m (2136.5 m TVD). No oil shows are described in the well due to masking by the oil-based mud.

No cores were cut. Fluid samples were taken on wire line with

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
