Well history

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

General

Well 25/10-16 C is a geological side-track to 25/10-16 B on the Gudrun Terrace in the North Sea. It was drilled as an appraisal well on the 25/10-8 Hanz discovery. The primary objective was to prove the oil-water contact down-dip in the south-western part of the Hanz structure.

Operations and results

Appraisal well 25/10-16 C was kicked off at 2673 m in wellbore 25/10-16 B on 19 August 2018. It was drilled with the jack-up installation Mærsk Intrepid to TD at 4405 m (2696 m TVD) in the Late Triassic Skagerrak Formation. Operations proceeded without significant problems. The well was drilled with RheGuard oil-based mud from kick-off to TD.

A total of 147.5 m MD thickness of Draupne Formation was drilled from 4001.5 m (2447.3 m TVD) to 4249 m (2595 m TVD. The Draupne Formation consisted of carbonaceous claystone with numerous thin limestones and only occasional, very thin lenses of sand. In the Hugin Formation a water-wet reservoir with good quality reservoir was proven. The total reservoir thickness in the Hugin Formation was approximately 13 m. Additionally, reservoir sands of varying quality were found to be present in the Statfjord Group and Hegre Group respectively. All formations were water-bearing. Seven pressure points were acquired, all of which confirmed a slight depletion relative to hydrostatic pressure. No hydrocarbon shows above the OBM signature were recorded in the cuttings returned to surface.

No cores were cut. No fluid sample was taken.

The well was permanently abandoned on 26 August 2018 as a dry well.

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
