Well history
WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE
Well 6407/9-12 was drilled to test the Skumnisse prospect east of the Draugen Field in the Froan Basin in the Norwegian Sea. The primary objective was to test the hydrocarbon potential in the Rogn Formation. The prospect was seen as an eastward extension of the Draugen reservoir, based on seismic interpretation. The well is thus classified as an appraisal.
Operations and results
Appraisal well 6407/9-12 was spudded with the semi-submersible installation Deepsea Nordkapp on 16 October 2019 and drilled to TD in the 12 1/4" section at 1056 m. At this point, on 19 October 2019, the well was suspended while the rig moved to 6407/9-11, which was drilled in batch with 6407/9-12 in an appraisal drilling campaign on the Draugen Field. The rig returned and re-entered 6407 /9-12 on 30 October 2019 and the final 8 1/2" section was drilled to final TD at 1775 m in the Middle Jurassic Garn Formation. Operations proceeded without significant problems. The well was drilled with seawater and hi-vis pills down to 1056 m and with Innovert oil-based mud from 1056 m to TD.
The Rogn Formation was encountered at 1663 m and consisted of sandstone grading to siltstone and claystone. The Rogn Formation proved to be a lower shoreface facies with reduced reservoir properties compared to Draugen. Gross thickness was 40 m, while 15 m was net reservoir based on petrophysical evaluation. The Well was completely dry all through with low gas readings and no indication of oil shows.
One 18 m core was cut in the Rogn Formation from 1669m to 1687m with 100 % recovery. No fluid sample was taken.
The well was plugged and abandoned on 8. November 2019, but the wellhead housings were not cut and retrieved from seabed until

About this data
Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
