Well history

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

General

Well 35/10-6 was drilled to test the Gabriel prospect on the Marflo Spur in the North Sea. The primary objective was to confirm commercial hydrocarbons in intra-Balder and intra-Sele formation sandstones (Radøy and Sula members, respectively).

Operations and results

An 8 1/2" pilot hole was drilled 1211 m to check for shallow gas. No signs of shallow gas or water flow were observed.

Wildcat well 35/10-6 was spudded with the semi-submersible installation West Hercules on 28 April 2020 and drilled to TD at 1938 m in the Paleocene Lista Formation. Operations proceeded without significant problems. The well was drilled with seawater and hi-vis pills down to 1211 m and with Glydril mud from 1211 m to TD.

There was no sandstone in the Balder Formation. The deep marine reservoir was found in the Sele Formation at 1787 m. The Sula reservoir Unit consisted of 41 m gross thickness sandstones. The sandstones were found to be water filled with good to very good reservoir properties. Gas readings were low throughout the well, and there were no shows.

No cores were cut. No fluid sample was taken.

The well was permanently abandoned on 12 May 2020 as a dry well.

Testing

No drill stem test was performed.

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
