Well history

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

General

Well 35/11-24 A is a geological side-track to well 35/11-23 S on the Lomre terrace, 6km west of the Fram Vest field in the North Sea. Well 35/11-24 S (Swisher) found oil and gas in two Intra-Heather Formation sandstones, and 35/11-24 A was drilled down-flank on the Swisher structure to appraise the discovery and to establish the hydrocarbon-water contacts.

Operations and results

Appraisal well 35/11-24 A was kicked off at 1614 m in the primary well on 11 August 2020. It was drilled with the semi-submersible installation West Hercules to TD at 3549 m (3244.6 m TVD) m in Middle Jurassic claystone belonging to the Heather Formation. Operations proceeded without significant problems. The well was drilled with Versatec oil-based mud from kick-off to TD.

The well penetrated the target Intra-Heather Formation sandstone units from 3337 to 3374 m (3052 to 3086 m TVD) and 3440 to 3471 m (3146 to 3174 m TVD). The upper unit contained a small gas column, but on a ca 8 bar higher pressure gas gradient compared to the gas in the 35/11-23 S well. The lower unit was water bearing. Oil shows in the form of fluorescence and cut were seen in both units.

One core was cut from 3342.0 to 3365.2 m in the upper sandstone unit, with 100% recovery. The core-log shift is 0.9 m MDT fluid samples were taken at 3344.0 m (gas), 3349.0 m (gas), 3352.4 m (water), and 3441.5 m (water).

The well was permanently abandoned on 28 August 2020 as a gas appraisal well.

Testing

No drill stem test was performed.

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
