Well history

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

General

Well 34/7-37 S was drilled to test the Fjell prospect in the Tampen Spur area in the North Sea. The well is situated south of the Borg Field, and the primary objective was to test Intra-Draupne Formation sandstone (Munin Mbr), analogues to the Borg Field.

Operations and results

Two off-location Pilot wells 34-7-U-26 and 34/7-U-27 were drilled prior to the primary well, to TDs at 427 m and 380 m, respectively. Both encountered shallow gas and the casing design of the primary well was adjusted accordingly.

Wildcat well 34/7-37 S was spudded with the semi-submersible installation Deepsea Atlantic on 31 October 2020 and drilled to TD at 2785 m (2784 m TVD) m in the Middle Jurassic, Heather Formation. Operations proceeded without significant problems. The well was drilled with seawater and hi-vis pills down to 580 m and with Carbosea oil-based mud from 580 to 2558 m and with Syn-Tec oil-based mud from 2558 m to TD.

The target Intra-Draupne Formation sandstone was not present in the well. There were no shows in the well

No cores were cut. No fluid sample was taken.

The well was permanently abandoned on 2 December 2020 as a dry well.

Testing

No drill stem test was performed.

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
