Well history

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

General

Well 31/2-22 A is a geological side-track to 31/2-22 S, which found oil in the Blasto prospect in the Sognefjord Formation and possible gas in the Hardråde Formation carbonates. The Blasto prospect is located on the Lomre Terrace close to the Fram and Troll Fields in the North Sea. Blasto is in a rotated fault block setting up-dip of the dry 31/2-8 well located in the same structure. The primary objective was to test the Sognefjord Formation in the Blasto West segment immediately to the west of the Blasto Main structure.

Operations and results

Appraisal well 31/2-22 A was kicked off at 996 m in the main well bore on 4 March 2021. It was drilled with the semi-submersible installation West Hercules to TD at 2207 m (2066.3 m TVD) m in the Late Jurassic, Sognefjord Formation. Operations proceeded without significant problems. The well was drilled with Glydril mud from kick-off to TD.

The observed tops came in as prognosis and well within the uncertainties. The only exception is the Viking Group. Heather Formation was prognosed but proved to be absent. Instead, a 41 m TVD thick Draupne Formation was present. Both the Upper and Lower Sognefjord Formation were water bearing. The gas reading through the carbonates in the

Hardråde Formation was low. Occasional weak shows (spotty direct and cut fluorescence) were described up to 1980 above the Sognefjord reservoir. More continuous shows (direct and cut fluorescence) were described in the Sognefjord Formation sandstones, but no visual stain was seen and no odour.

No cores were cut. No fluid sample was taken.

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
