Well history

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

Well 6507/3-15 Newt, drilled by Aker BP, is a wildcat well located northeast of the Skarv and Idun fields within the Revfallet Fault Complex. The primary exploration target was the Jurassic Fangst group sediments, with a secondary aim of testing the Båt group reservoirs.

Operations and Results

The well was spudded with the Deepsea Nordkapp on 15 July 2022 and drilled to TD at 2197.2 m TVD in the Åre Formation. The well encountered gas-saturated reservoirs in the Not, Ile, and Ror formations, and oil in the Tilje formation. Hydrocarbon contacts were identified with a gas-oil contact at 1979.9 m TVDSS and an oil-water contact at 2020.2 m TVDSS. Core sampling included 3 cores with a total length of 109.6 m. The well is classified as a discovery of oil and gas.

Testing

No drill stem test was performed.

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
