Oklahoma activity report

What changed in the permit record in the 30 days to Nov 8, 2026, set against the 30 days before (Sep 10 to Oct 9, 2026). Counted from each regulator's record; nothing is estimated.

Operators permitting more

Operators with at least 5 wells permitted in the 30 days to Nov 8, 2026 and at least 1.5 times as many as in the 30 days before, largest increase first.

Operators permitting less

Operators with at least 5 wells permitted in the 30 days before and no more than half as many since, largest drop first. The county is where most of their wells of the earlier period were.

Counties with more permits

Counties with at least 10 wells permitted in the 30 days to Nov 8, 2026 and at least 1.5 times as many as in the 30 days before.

Operators filing a first permit

Operator registrations whose first permit on file was approved Oct 10 to Nov 8, 2026. A registration is one operator number with one regulator, so a new one is not always a new company: where Petrora groups it with other registrations, the company is named.

Operators new to a county

An operator's first well in a county: wells permitted Oct 10 to Nov 8, 2026 where the operator has no other well of record. The map shows the wells around the first of them, by operator. Registrations that are new altogether are in the list above.

Vertical wells from operators drilling horizontals

Vertical wells permitted Oct 10 to Nov 8, 2026 by operators whose wells permitted over the twelve months before were at least 90% horizontal, out of 10 or more. New wells only, where the record says what a permit is for. The record says the well is vertical, not what it is for; its name and depth are what there is to read.

About this data

Each state regulator's well record (Texas: RRC; New Mexico: OCD; Oklahoma: OCC). A count is wells permitted: one row per well under its latest approved permit, on the approval date, so a well whose permit is amended later is counted on the amendment's date. An operator is one registration with one regulator. Permits reach the files a few days after approval; each state's card says the latest approval on file. Nothing is estimated or scored: each list is the rule stated above it.
