Well history

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

General

Well 7/12-13 S was drilled on the Storebjørn prospect roughly mid way between the Ula and Tambar fields in the North Sea. The main play within the area is the Late Jurassic Ula sandstones, confirmed by the producing Ula, Tambar and Gyda oil fields. The Storebjørn prospect shared this play and was targeting the Ula sandstones.

Operations and results

Wildcat well 7/12-13 S was spudded with the jack-up installation Mærsk Guardian on 29 January 2012 and drilled to TD at 4575 m (4540 m TVD). The well was drilled deviated to avoid expected shallow gas at the vertical well location. The new location had a slight shallow gas warning at 338 m MSL, but no shallow gas was observed. The well was drilled water based down to 803 m and with XP-07 oil based mud from 803 m to TD.

The Ula formation was penetrated at 4255 m and was found to be water bearing. The use of oil based mud hampered the detection of shows in the cuttings samples. No hydrocarbon shows were therefore described in the cuttings. Weak oil shows are described in the sidewall cores, which were all taken in the upper part of the Ula Formation.

Wire line logging was performed to obtain pressure points, velocity control and sidewall cores. No cores were cut and no wire line fluid samples were taken.

The well was permanently abandoned on 18 May 2012 as a dry well.

Testing

No drill stem test was performed.

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
