Well history

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

General

Well 6507/5-7 was drilled on the Terne prospect on the Sør High in the Norwegian Sea. The primary objective was to prove hydrocarbons (oil) in the Middle Jurassic Garn Formation, with secondary objectives the Middle Jurassic Ile, Tilje and Åre Formations.

Operations and results

Wildcat well 6507/5-7 was spudded with the semi-submersible installation Borgland Dolphin on 7 June 2014 and drilled to TD at 1598 m in the Early Jurassic Åre Formation. A pilot hole was drilled down to 720 m to check for shallow gas. No shallow gas or water flow was observed. No significant problem was encountered in the further operations. The well was drilled with seawater and hi-vis sweeps down to 720 m, and with Performadril mud containing 4 - 5.2% glycol from 720 m to TD.

Top of primary objective Garn Formation came inn at 1322 m, 23 m high to prognosis. There was 12 and 15 m of reservoir rocks of very high reservoir quality in the Garn and Ile formations, respectively. In addition, about 20 and 30 m of reservoir rocks of very high reservoir quality were encountered in the Tilje and Åre formations, respectively. The well is dry. No hydrocarbon shows above minor background levels shows were recorded.

No cores were cut and no fluid samples were taken.

The well was permanently abandoned on 24 June 2014 as a dry well.

Testing

No drill stem test was performed.

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
