Well history

WRITTEN BY THE NORWEGIAN OFFSHORE DIRECTORATE

General

Well 24/9-12 A was drilled to appraise the Frosk Eocene injectite oil discovery made by well 24/9-12 S in the Vana Sub-basin in the North Sea. The primary objective was to drill higher up on the injectite complex and investigate the presence of sands and a possible gas-oil contact.

Operations and results

Appraisal well 24/9-12 A was kicked off at 1370 m in wellbore 24/9-12 S on 9 February 2018. It was drilled with the semi-submersible installation Transocean Arctic to 1553 m where the hole collapsed and was abandoned. A technical side-track was initiated on 12 February 2018 with kick-off at 1330 m. This wellbore was drilled successfully to final TD at 3000 m (2326 m TVD) m in the Paleocene Sele Formation. The well was drilled with EMS 4600 oil-based mud from kick-off to TD.

Top of the Frosk injectite complex was encountered at 2263.8 m (1793.7 m TVD). The main injectite sand was penetrated from 2433.3 to its base at 2522.5 m (1837.2 to 1866.9 m TVD) and was oil filled from top to base. Three valid pressure points in two thin sands at the top of the injection complex indicated gas with a possible GOC at ca 2331 m (1810 m TVD). The Hermod Formation was not present in 24/9-12 A. There were no oil shows above OBM in the well.

No core was cut. No logs were run on wire line and no fluid sample was taken.

The well was permanently abandoned on 25 February 2018 as an oil and gas appraisal well

Testing

No drill stem test was performed.

About this data

Norwegian Offshore Directorate (Sodir) FactPages, mirrored nightly and used under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD). Depths are metres along the wellbore from the kelly bushing unless a row gives its own unit; older cores are filed in feet. A zero the Directorate files for an unmeasured pressure, density, or temperature is shown as a dash.
