Wells permitted by week

The twelve weeks to Oct 4, 2026, each labeled by the Sunday it ends on.

Operators filing a first permit

Operator registrations whose first permit on file was approved Sep 28 to Oct 4, 2026. A registration is one operator number with one regulator, so a new one is not always a new company: where Petrora groups it with other registrations, the company is named.

Operators new to a county

An operator's first well in a county: wells permitted Sep 28 to Oct 4, 2026 where the operator has no other well of record. The map shows the wells around the first of them, by operator. Registrations that are new altogether are in the list above.

Wells that changed operator

Wells whose operator of record changed Sep 28 to Oct 4, 2026, by who they went from and to: 30 wells between 2 pairs of operators. The record says the operator changed, not why. Operator history is not available for Texas or Oklahoma, so this list is New Mexico only.

Vertical wells from operators drilling horizontals

Vertical wells permitted Sep 28 to Oct 4, 2026 by operators whose wells permitted over the twelve months before were at least 90% horizontal, out of 10 or more. New wells only, where the record says what a permit is for. The record says the well is vertical, not what it is for; its name and depth are what there is to read.

About this data

Each state regulator's well record (Texas: RRC; New Mexico: OCD; Oklahoma: OCC). A count is wells permitted: one row per well under its latest approved permit, on the approval date. The week is recounted from the record each time the page is opened, so a well whose permit is amended later moves to the amendment's week. An operator is one registration with one regulator. Nothing is estimated or scored: each list is the rule stated above it.
